Mastering The Burn. A Guide To Your Sonas Óir Candle
At Sonas Óir, we believe that lighting a candle is a ritual—a way to invite Sonas [Happiness] and Ór [Gold] light into your sanctuary. To ensure you get the most luxurious experience from our hand-poured creations, we have put together our professional tips for the perfect burn.
1. The Critical First Burn
The first time you light your candle is the most important. To prevent tunneling (where the wax burns down the center but stays on the sides), allow the wax to melt all the way to the edges of the jar. This usually takes 2-3 hours and sets the "memory" for every burn that follows. This ensures you get every bit of value from our luxury blend.
2. Trim for the Best Light
Before every light, we recommend trimming your wick to 1/4 inch. This small step is our secret to a clean, steady flame and keeps your jar free from black soot, ensuring the glow remains pure and professional.
3. Safety and Peace of Mind
The 4 - Hour Rule
Do not burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time.
The Last 1/2 Inch
It's time to say goodbye when there is about 1/2 inch of wax left.
Surface Check
Always place your candle on a heat resistant surface away from drafts, pets and children and never leave unattended.
4. A Sustainable Touch
Pour hot water over the remaining wax to cover, let sit to soften/melt the remaining wax and pour into the garbage. Remove any remaining wax with paper towel and remove the metal wick gently from the bottom of the jar. NEVER pour wax down the sink!
